Dutch painter Johannes (Joop) Hendrikus Moesman (1909–1988),
when still alive and famous for his iconic work Het gerucht (The Rumour),
was honoured by André Breton, founder of the surrealist movement in 1920,
and crowned as the one and only surrealist of the Netherlands.

The Moesmánia2020 festival in Utrecht emphasised the artist's significance
with many cultural events surrounding the exhibition, The tears of Eros,
in the Centraal Museum, drawing masses of spectators to Utrecht.
